Residents are expected to participate in the academic program Monday through Friday.

Upon enrollment, students are interviewed and assessed to determine their most appropriate program of study. Students whose transition plan is to return to school will be given the opportunity to earn high school credit in areas of need based upon the graduation requirements their home school when possible. Eligible students may be enrolled in G.E.D. preparatory classes.
Cognitive Behavioral Training (CBT) is the behavioral model followed in all areas of Ferris School. Additionally, Ferris Education has established behavioral expectations for academic success.
The education program is very fortunate to have an active group of volunteer academic mentors. Mentors provide additional support to students in a variety of core content areas, G.E.D. Preparation, career preparation and the Arts. Typically, mentors volunteer their time weekly during school hours. Mentors play a vital role in student motivation and success. Volunteer mentors come from a variety of career backgrounds. At this time, mentors are largely composed of DuPont and DSCYF employees and retirees.
