Files containing information regarding your history with the Division of Family Services (DFS) are considered confidential and therefore are not subject to Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests. However, the Department does have a process for individuals to review copies of their own records (note: you cannot request information about a record other than your own).
All records requests are administered by the Departmental Records Unit. Please do not submit records requests through your client’s caseworker as this will delay the processing of your request. The Department requires a minimum of thirty (30) days to process all requests for records.
Individuals submitting requests to DSCYF under Delaware’s Freedom of Information Act (29 Del.C. §§ 10001 et seq.) may use the DSCYF Online FOIA Request Form below. Alternatively, FOIA requests (in PDF form) may be filed by email to the FOIA coordinator at DSCYF_FOIA@delaware.gov or by U.S. Mail as follows:
