Request to view your personal DFS file

Files containing information regarding your history with the Division of Family Services (DFS) are considered confidential and therefore are not subject to Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests. However, the Department does have a process for individuals to review copies of their own records (note: you cannot request information about a record other than your own).

  • A written request for your record should be sent to the email DSCYF_Records_Requests@delaware.gov or via fax at (302) 622-4479.
  • Upon receipt of your request and determination of legal authorization to view the records, you will be contacted by a DFS representative to schedule an appointment to review your records. You will be required to show identification in order to review the records in question.

Attorneys who wish to submit a records request

All records requests are administered by the Departmental Records Unit. Please do not submit records requests through your client’s caseworker as this will delay the processing of your request. The Department requires a minimum of thirty (30) days to process all requests for records.

  • Please submit all requests for records to DSCYF_Records_Requests@delaware.gov or via fax at (302) 622-4479.
  • Records Unit staff will acknowledge receiving your request and may follow-up with questions as needed.

Revocation of Release

Individuals submitting revocation of their release per DSCYF Policy 205 may use the DSCYF Online Revocation Form.

Alternatively, requests for revocation in PDF form may be filed via email at DSCYF_Revocations@delaware.gov, fax (302) 661-7267, or by U.S. mail as follows:
