Behavior Management

Ferris School has four different levels of privileges:

  • First Level - Orientation Level
    • In the Orientation level, the residents develop plans for their future. After three weeks, the residents can move to the second level. Some of the requirements are: follow the treatment plan with average educational and programming scores no less than 70% in any one program, tell their life story to the group, and know the seven levels on confrontation.
  • Second Level – Intermediate Level
    • In The Intermediate level, residents focus on feeling confident in using the skills that they learned in the previous level. After six weeks, the residents can move to the third level. Some of the requirements are: follow service plan with average educational and program scores no less than 80% in any one program, make contributions to cluster, and have six weeks with no less than neutral/positive ratings.
  • Third Level – Advanced Level
    • In the Advanced level, residents begin to develop plans for release and demonstrate knowledge on how to handle problems in the facility, but unsure of how to handle them at home. After eight weeks, residents can move to the fourth level. Some of the requirements are: follow treatment plan with average educational and programming scores no less than 90% in any one program and have 12 consecutive weeks with no less than neutral/positive ratings.
  • Fourth Level – Honors Level
    • In this level, the residents are demonstrating responsible, competent, and cooperative behavior. They are also working on their release plan that they developed. After this, they can be released to Mowlds Cottage. In order for that to occur, they have to do such things as: follow treatment plan with average educational and programming scores no less than 90% in any one program and have at least one week with no less than positive ratings
