PERFORMANCE MEASURES
DSCYF continues to strive to meet the highest standards in the services we provide for children, youth and their families. Accreditation of our facilities and programs by national accreditation associations reflect that we have met these high standards. We are proud that under the administration of Governor Carper and Secretary Eichler, we have received the following certifications and accreditations:
- Terry Psychiatric Children's Hospital received accreditation for
the first time in the early 1970's from the Joint Commission on the
Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
- Ferris School food services and medical units received certification
from the American Correctional Association for the first time in January
of 1995.
- New Castle County Detention Center received accreditation for the
first time in November of 1995 from the American Correctional Association.
- The New Castle County Detention Center and Ferris School Education Program received accreditation from the Commission on Secondary Schools, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools for the first time in November of 1996.
- Stevenson House Detention Center received accreditation for the fourth
time in January of 1999 from the American Correctional Association.
- In April of 1998 the Division of Child Mental Health Services received
accreditation from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health
Care Organizations (JCAHO) as a managed behavioral health care organization. [Press

Over the next year, we will pursue accreditation of the entire Ferris facility with the American Correctional Association.
