H1N1 Flu Child Care Toolkit and vaccination information

  • You have verified cases of H1N1 Flu.
  • You have had to close your Center or Home due to H1N1.

Reports are needed when a case has been diagnosed of a child or Staff member.  Monitoring the impact of the H1N1 Flu in child care is very important in tracking the course of the illness in Delaware.  To report cases or closings contact:

Human Services Directory for Delaware

The Division of State Service Centers publishes the Directory of Human Services for Delaware every two years. The Directory is a resource guide to public and non-profit health and human services available in Delaware. It includes Delaware health and human service providers, program descriptions, locations, telephone numbers, hours of operation, web-sites, and eligibility requirements for services available throughout the state.

Revised Criminal Background Check Procedures for Persons Seeking Employment

There has been a change in Delaware Code Title 11, Chapter 85, Subchapter V pertaining to Criminal Background Checks for Child Care Providers. The process for using the Consent to Release Criminal History and Child Protection Registry Information form when a person had a fingerprint check within the past 5 years is no longer valid.

The Role of Professional Child Care Providers in Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect is the latest release in the Child Abuse and Neglect User Manual Series and is now available for download from the Child Welfare Information Gateway website www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/usermanuals/childcare.

Providers should also review the specific guidance for cooperating with child abuse and neglect investigations that was issued by OCCL and the Office of Children’s Services.

ESTABLISHING, SELLING OR PURCHASING AN EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION
AND SCHOOL-AGE CENTER

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To help in facilitating this process the following  points provide important information:

  • Centers must notify the Office of Child Care Licensing of their intent to sell or change sponsorship 90 days prior to completing either such action
  • Become fully versed in Delacare Rules (available for viewing or downloading at  http://kids.delaware.gov/occl/occl_providers.shtml)
  • Contact the Office of Child Care Licensing to obtain an application packet and to schedule a required Orientation session.
  • Fully comply with Delacare Rules, effective January 1, 2007 before a license will be issued
  • Meet the requirements of State and local zoning and other regulatory authorities.
