Careers in Licensed Early Care and Education and School Age Centers


Early care and education and school-age centers are hiring qualified applicants. Generally, the first thing an employer will ask an applicant is to see a certificate verifying that the person is qualified under DELACARE Rules. The Delaware First Professional Development System, a unit of the Department of Education, evaluates applications and grants certificates, verifying that each individual has the appropriate training, education, and experience to qualify for one of the early care and education and school-age positions listed here.

In order to become qualified as an early childhood assistant teacher, you must complete TECE I.  To become an early childhood teacher both TECE I and TECE II are needed.  These positions also require a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as months of experience.  For more information or to register for these courses contact:
