General Description of Functions/Services
- Staff of 19 full-time and two casual seasonal employees. Most located in New Castle County. Sr. technicians assigned to each of Kent and Sussex Counties.
- Supporting the following:
- 1240 PCs at 23 major sites and individual staff assigned to 60+ schools.
- These PCs currently run a standard configuration of WindowsXP Professional and Microsoft Office Professional. The standard configuration is modified for those few staff who need special software to perform their assigned duties. Anti-virus and system updates are performed by a network of servers managed by senior technicians.
- Over 100 network printers located at various sites.
- 70+ servers (Windows and Linux Red Hat)
- Local Area Networks and file/print servers at the sites
- Network security
- Operation of FACTS (Family And Child Tracking System)
- Developed with partial Federal funding as Delaware’s SACWIS (Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System)
- 7 X 24 mission-critical operation using many automated functions to allow reliable unattended operation.
- FACTS uses an Oracle 9i database.
- FACTS is a client-server application that uses CitriX middleware to improve performance and manageability.
- We have very few unscheduled FACTS outages. Staff typically operates FACTS at 99+% scheduled uptime on an annual basis.
- Daytime workload is about 350 – 400 simultaneous users.
- Offsite standby system for disaster recovery. We schedule quarterly disaster recovery drills to verify proper operation of the standby system. To-date, the standby system has been used twice during actual disasters that prevented operation in the normal data center.
- Oracle Portal for access to Oracle Discoverer and reporting systems
